Ann (Annie) Tyron

Ann Tyron opened Hissy Knits when she began to run out of room for her yarn stash in her own home. She was also designing knitted purses and wanted acess to yarn on a wholesale basis.

Ann Tyron has been active in the field of fiber crafts for many years. She co-owned a soft sculpture business and toured craft fairs and did a wholesale business from 1976 to 1988. Her love of knitting and crochet has been an on-again, off-again affair which was rekindled by her daughter, Erica, who introduced her to the Stitch N'Bitch phenomena. After looking at the yarns that were currently available, she was hooked (some would say obsessed) by all the colors, textures and books currently available.

Beautiful yarn aside, Ann wanted a place where equally obsessed people could gather and where a sense of community prevailed. In a time of overwhelming technological advances and where communication was mostly long distance, Ann felt there was a need for gatherings in a comfortable, inviting environment. Hence, Hissy Knits offers an open door policy, where you can come at any time and work on a current project.

Ann also has a day care business called Grannie Annie's which she has owned and managed since 1992. She has two grown children, Craig and Erica, and two grandsons, Jacob and Tristan. She resides in Highland Park with her significant other Bennett and her dogs Nova and Mosey and her cat (the Hissy Knits cat) Bungee.
